I know my giveaway is geared more towards those of us who like girly accessories. Sorry about that. However, if you’re fun and want to play along, you can still participate by submitting your outfit photo! I could send you something manly if you win, if you happen to not like leopard clutches and the like. :-)
I'm trying to learn how to dress my curves and feel comfortable at the same time. I really envy your style and any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there! Thanks for the message, I hope I can help! :)
So, first off, I’ll just be totally honest and say that I don’t think that trying to dress your curves will make you feel comfortable. In my experience, shifting my focus from dressing for my curves to dressing for making myself happy has made a huge difference in how comfortable I feel with my body. It’s been a struggle for me, but I’m finding that I feel better and more confident when I dress for myself and not others.
Also what’s helped me, and might help you too, is challenging and pushing myself to try clothes that will intentionally make me a bit feel a bit uncomfortable. Like, recently I’ve worn a tight tank top, a short dress, leggings as pants, etc., stuff even 6 months ago I wouldn’t have done. The more I challenge myself in these small ways, the more confident I feel in myself and my shape. Also, pushing the boundaries of what I’ve always thought was “acceptable” for someone my size to wear has shown me that the way I dress really isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Fashion is supposed to be fun! :)
Oh, and something else! Maybe try taking some outfit photos and submitting them to one of the curve-appreciating Tumblrs. Some of my faves are CurvaceousFashions , ChubbyBunnies, and CurveAppeal. It can be scary to put yourself out there, but its well worth it to connect with other girls with bodies and struggles like yours. Also, the fashion I see on those Tumblrs often rocks. :)
As actual for style tips, I’m super into tights and leggings right now. They’re a great way to wear your summery dresses in the colder weather, especially if you add a soft sweater or cardigan. I wear skinny jeans all the time, but want to start wearing heels more. I recently rediscovered my moto jacket way back in the depths of my closet, and I’m really excited about it! Also, when in doubt, I add a fun scarf. :)
Remember, ALL bodies are GOOD bodies! Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to talk more, ok? :)
